1. Malabar State Of Mind
Malabar State of Mind by Professor A.L.I.
I sit upon pacific shores and wonder my friends
When will the evil of men, and violence end?
I face the west, beyond oncoming waves
I long for simplicity,of pre-colonial days
A village in Malabar, named after Ali
Where a girl is born, who’ll one day birth me
Could she see, facing west from Malabar shores–
The house in the desert, where Imam Ali was born?
I’ll never know, for she’s now, one with the earth
Water surrounds me, yet I still feel the thirst
From Kerala to Kerbala, I travel with Adam
and ponder my existence, as I spin like my atoms
I’m a dervish, around the source of my passions
Vow of silence like Buddhists, try speak with my actions
I stand up, yet the sands still cling to my form
I plunge into the ocean, and swim for my home
I’m in a Malabar State of Mind
That means undefined
So find me
In between these lines
I never sleep, cuz sleep is cousin of death
Like Yunus, I’m swallowed into the depths–
Of the seas, and darkness surrounds me
So dark, I see light, So I’m finally free!
From Kanya Kumari to Kumari Kundam
I emerge baptized, in the wells of ZamZam
Where I’m from? I don’t even know
But I travel this realm, in a broken vehicle
And reminisce of the Pachyderm Pimp Hannibal
I’m not an angel, but I’m far from an animal
Far from hypocrisy of these cannibals
Or a blind lady justice, wearin’ manacles,
Or like lies that trap victims in Guantanamo
Or bodies dumped at sea, “Geronimo”!
Do you wanna know, Malabar State of Mind
I await the stated time, as A.L.I.
